Language Kit

My Body Kit

The Niiyaw Kit has been created to help language learners master words for body parts in Anishinaabemowin. Below you can download our lesson plans with ideas for using the available resources. You can download a copy of our Niiyaw Owe! book by M.J. King and listen to it being read by a fluent speaker further down the page. You can also hear fluent speaker saying phrases and words related to the resources to help you with your pronunciation. We also encourage you to seek out a speaker in your community to check on how words are said in your community. The Anishinaabemowin version of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes is available in audio and video format to sing and follow the actions. Use the Zhiibiin! resource to create a daily stretching routine, or play a round of Simon Ikido!

We are always adding new resources and ideas, so be sure to check back regularly for new materials!
